Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted as a cross sectional on female student 12-14 age group had been educated in an elementary school and male student of 15-17 age groups had been educated in a high school in Sincan District of Ankara. The study universe was composed of 414 students including 218 female and 196 male.Data collected through questionnaire, symmetrigraf, Adams forward bending test and visual inspection. In evaluation of data, SPSS 16.0 package software was used. Chi- square and percentage distribution was used in analysis. In our study scoliosis prevalence was found as 9.6% and kyphosis prevalence was found with 6.5% by Symmetrigraph. Students who were confirmed to spine deformation were examined through Orthorontgenogram by an orthopaedist and 11 students diagnosed with spine deformation. It was found that spine deformity more prevalent in male students than female students and a significant relation between spine deformity and some variables such as going to school with school bag (P=0.043), watching tv for a long time in day (P=0.01)The highest prevalence in our study was obtained by Symmetrigraph. The reason behind may be that Symmetrigraph is able to determine smaller spine angle movements during early stages. This allows scanning programs to determine suspicious cases in an early stage relevantly and required intervention to be taken. In school screening program, symmetrigraph usage was recommended with respect to that it is practical in using and order to early determination of spinal curvatures.
