The historic environmental analysis protection of Ankara Saraçoğlu Quarter and a sample structure restoration

In this study, detailed environmental and structural analyses are carried out, protection decisions and applications are examined and solutions are offered in order to protect and keep alive Saraçoğlu Quarter, one of the important examples of modern architectural heritage of Ankara.In the urban environmental analyses for Saraçoğlu Quarter, which is designed in a modern quarter look towards Bahçeşehir theory, existing data is evaluated, documented and solutions are offered towards encountered problems.In the structural analyses, architectural and structural features of the public buildings and the housings which are examples of modern housing estate are investigated. By documenting the plan types and features, frontispiece, material and structural features and by determining structural deterioration reasons, solutions are proposed. Within this context, the original design of an A plan type housing standing out among others (93(1).Street housing number 5) was determined, reassembling and restoration suggestions were made. Suggestions for this single housing are made by considering the common architectural and structural features of the all housing in the quarter. The suggestions include the operations to be made for places, architectural components and materials and periodic maintenance conditions in order to provide continuity of these applications.This study is made with the purpose of joining the Saraçoğlu Quarter, which has witnessed the near past at the heart of Ankara Kızılay city center, to the city center and keeping it alive.
