Abstract (EN)

This study was performed to assess the pressurized irrigation systems and to determine the seasonal applied water by both the sprinkler and drip irrigation systems on plants at Haydar AliyevPublicpark situated in Ankara-Yenimahalle-Batıkent location. In addition, dripper water application performance was also identified. For that purpose, Homogeneity Coefficient (CU) and Uniform water distribution Coefficient (EU) as indicators of emitter water application performance were calculated, and then Uniform Watering Class was obtained accordingly. In results, working pressure for drip irrigation system was measured as 1.75 kg/cm2. Mean emitter discharge was computed as 5 L/h. CU was calculated as 81% and water application class was found as GOOD in accordance of such result. EU was computed as 50% and watering uniformity class was determined as POOR in accordance of this value. In general, emitter water application performance was found far from the expectation (90% or over) and the reasons could be follows; the weakness in design of the system, seepage losses in system, and partial or complete emitter clogging in some drippers. Applied water for sprinkler and drip irrigation systems was calculated as around 1566 mm and 1382 mm, respectively. In the result of the current study, as known Ankara is within the semi-arid climate and has been highly negatively affected from the climate change so due to the maximal water consumption of grass plants, the cropping area of grass should be shortened and planting area of drought tolerant plants must be widened in landscape areas in regions having water shortage problems. As a result, sustainable use of water resources in irrigation particularly in arid and semi-arid ecologies are necessarily prerequisites
