Abstract (EN)
PERSISTING TIME OF MATERNAL ANTIBODY LEVELS OF HEPATITIS A AND VARICELLAHepatitis A and varicella infections are common in childhood. Small children usually have mild and self-limiting disease, although trending can lead to serious complications and death. With the vaccine against hepatitis A and chickenpox is possible to prevent. Hepatitis A and varicella vaccines are not included in the national vaccination schedule. However, after a short time, they will be in our national immunization schedule.Antibodies passively transferred from mother to baby through the placenta, and social differences in vaccine applications, showing one of the factors which are important. In this study, hepatitis A, and varicella disease detection and duration of the retention of maternal antibodies in both the vaccine and planned national immunization program is intended to help determine the application time. The study is performed between July 2011 and July 2012. 546 infants and children who had applied to Gazi University Hospital who born termly and with no history of chronic disease, non-immune failure, hepatitis A and varicella disease, vaccines against hepatitis A and chickenpox were enrolled the study. According to age groups, the number of cord blood representing the moment of birth 132 (24,2%), 12 months the number of patients, 135 (24,7%), 18 months the number of patients 149 (27,3%), 24 months the number of patients 130 (23,8%), respectively.68Anti-HAV IgG were positive in 77,3% of cord blood samples at birth, 29,6% of 12 months old children, 14,8% of 18 months old children, 16,9% of 24 months old children and maternal antibodies was significantly decreased extremely well.Varicella IgG; at birth, 12, 18, 24 months of infants, 83,3%; 21,5%; 29,5%; 38,5% were positive respectively. The seropositivity rate of 83,3% at the time of birth were decreased by 21,5% at one year. Maternal antibodies to protect against chickenpox was significantly reduced for the first year of life. There was no relation between presence of maternal antibodies and parental education, parental occupation, the number of people living in the house, toilet location and type, the common use of goods and drinking water supply. In conclusion, the lowest level of maternal hepatitis A antibody positivity was found in 18th months and varicella antibody positivity was in 12th months, immunization practices recommended in this period. Thus, to minimize the effect of the maternal antibodies, as well as groups which are highly sensitive to the disease will effectively immunize.Key words: Hepatitis A, Varicella, Maternal Antibody
