Abstract (EN)

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who worked to create modern and contemporary state by innovating in all fields from the establishment of The Republic of Turkey, gave too much importance to the education of the public. Because of that, Atatürk's populism principle became one of the basic element of the republic. Removing new laws from the parliamnet didn't mean that the revoluations were completed. People's knowing, understanding and performing them were very important. In this context, to sell the public on the idea of republic and to make them accept the revoluations, Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk) thought necessary to found new culture and education centers which gives contemporary education as a whole, without any discriminations such as man or woman, rich or poor etc… After necessary preliminary studies were done, the community houses were opened on 19th February 1932. Community houses were important because of being the practical results of the principle of populism. Thus, with the limited budget and facilities, community houses were the basic educational institutions which had worked to modernize the Turkish Republic. Keywords: Community House, Antalya, Culture, Education, Public.
