Abstract (EN)
In recent years, with the developing technology, interest in Metamaterial (MTM) or antenna based sensors has increased. Nowadays, metamaterials and antennas can be used as sensors for measurement, perception and detection in many areas. Metamaterials have electromagnetic properties that natural materials do not normally have. Metamaterials are artificial materials that can have a negative refractive index and not available in nature. In the first step of this thesis, the measurement applications of metamaterial or antenna based sensors for liquids in industrial and medical fields are made. In the second step, detection of tunnel and space under the ground performed by using high gain wideband horn antenna. Firstly, it is aimed to measure the percentage of dextrose in serums in the medical field, and to measure lifetime and amount of motor oil in the industrial field. The measurements of the samples of the liquids in both areas have been realized with the Agilent 85070E dielectric probe kit and N5234A PNA-L Agilent Network Analyzer in the laboratory. As a result of these measurements, the dielectric constants of 5%, 10% and 20% dextrose serums and 0 km, 5 000 km and 10 000 km used motor oils have been determined. Dielectric constants values have been transferred into the finite integration technique (FIT) based microwave simulation program. With the help of this simulation program, the designs and simulations of our meta-structures and antennas have been realized. The scattering parameter, S11, have been chosen as the determining parameter. A monopole antenna was designed for the motor oil sensor to make it easier to integrate into the vehicles currently used today. A metamaterial based patch antenna has been designed for the measurement of dextrose ratio in the serum. Lastly, with reference to the library of the microwave simulation program, simulation studies of the detection of space and tunnels under the ground with horn antennas have been realized. The scattering parameter S21 have been chosen as the determining parameter. At the end of the obtained the simulation results, the necessary detection and measurements are made through the linear changes in the resonance frequency.
