Abstract (EN)
In performance halls, an acoustic environment shaped by architecture mediates the arrival of performance to audiences. Sound that is perceived by audiences is the original sound that is altered by the architectural surroundings. For this reason, the performance hall design is a comprehensive field that evaluates music, architecture and acoustics at the same time. Since the Ancient Period in the performance hall history, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic music have been in a very strong relationship with acoustic environments where the music is performed. Unpredictable acoustic results for designers, possible performance failures when halls aren't designed with specific forms brought mostly the repetition of safe forms and forms that are developed from these safe forms. As a result, the Italian opera house developed from Ancient Greek and Rome theaters; north European concert halls developed from basilica churches and rectangular ball rooms in palaces. Since the 20. Century, architectural acoustics that is approached scientifically supplied equipment for designers to envision the space and shape it. Performance history covered a long time period had maintained its influence architecturally and acoustically; scientific developments are benefited to build new halls with these familiar acoustics. Besides, architectural acoustics developments that encouraged new designs had caused the design of innovative formed halls that settle with terraced organization and variable halls to obtain optimum reverberation time. In this dynamic time, with the opportunity of developments, different methods to relate architecture and music are searched constantly. In contemporary performance halls' architecture, innovative and traditional forms are built; performance halls accommodate the effect of times since the Ancient Period.
