Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to understand, explain, and interpret from a holistic perspective how the ancient settlements in the Northern Pisidia (around Lake Eğirdir) were used in the past and their economic structure. The research is a case study in an area geographically defined as a micro region. This region is defined as the area examined within the scope of the "Northern Pisidia Archeaological Survey (KPYA)" project carried out by F. Özcan between 2014 and 2022. In the micro region, archaeological data from the Hellenistic, Roman Empire, Late Antiquity, and Early Byzantine Empire periods, starting from the first human traces in the cities and settlements of Parlais, Prostanna, Bindaios, Malos, Timbriada, and Kapıkaya, were examined. A research model constructed through spatial analysis was applied by adopting environmental archaeology and landscape archaeology approaches. This model includes the combination, stratification, mapping, and retrospective analysis of data obtained from archaeological, numismatic, epigraphic, and other research. Thus, the densities and periodic distributions of microregional data were examined, and settlement and economic patterns were analyzed through statistical and spatial analysis using geographic information systems (GIS). As a result of the study, it was understood that the microregion examined in Northern Pisidia had strategic importance throughout history and therefore defense systems were developed. It was determined that environmental factors played an important role in the selection of residential areas and economic activities in the region. Considering all environmental conditions, it is thought that the agricultural activities of the microregion were at a "self-sufficient" level, and the driving economic power of the region was based on forestry and water/ lake economy.
