Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, different salicyl aldehyde derivatives and monochloroacetone were reacted to synthesize acetyl benzofuran derivatives as starting materials. As a result of the claisen-schmidt condensation reaction of synthesized acetyl benzofuran derivatives with pyrene and anthracene-linked aldehyde derivatives, synthesis, characterization and investigation of biological properties of these compounds were carried out. For this purpose, original 6 substances were synthesized. 1H-NMR, FT-IR and elemental analysis techniques were used in the characterization of the compounds. Biological properties of synthesized chalcone compounds were investigated. For this purpose, antimicrobial activities were investigated. Agar Well Method was used while investigating antimicrobial activities. Then, cytotoxic effects of synthesized compounds were investigated. For this purpose, human adenocarcinoma (A-549) and human colorectal carcinoma (HCT-116) cell lines were used.
