Abstract (EN)

In this work, for urban traffic control; novel, optimized speed bump models are developed as an alternative of the speed bumps which hardly fullfill their function on applied roads. In the first stage, vehicle dynamics parameters are determined and the oscillation characteristics of some passenger automobiles are simulated with presumption of the bump form as road input. Simulation is carried out by a computer program which uses the half car model and suspension parameters. Physical validation of the computer model ensured by measurements of accelerometers which are attached to some areas of several cars. In the second stage, the road input in the established simulation model is inserted to optimization algorithm which minimizes the vehicle oscillation when the vehicle passes over the speed bump within the range of determined speed limits and elevates the vehicle oscillation to a safe but higher pre-defined value when the vehicle passes over the speed bump with much higher speeds. Optimization is carried out by entering the foretold parameters to design optimization toolbox and the obtained simulation and optimization parameters provides different speed bump forms for different speeds.
