Food security in Yemen after arabic spring

Food security is an important issue for countries. It is affected by several factors, the main ones being political situation and population growth. The concept of food security is discussed since long time. In this study, factors affecting food security, problems and solution proposals have been investigated. In addition, the difference between food security and food safety is being identified in this study. The main purpose of this study is to show the situation of food security pre-and- post 2011 'Arabic revolutions' in Yemen, and highlights the most effective reasons in food secuirty. On the other hand, various solutions and alternatives for improving existing food security problems are introduced. In recent years, food production has also declined. Political incidents, especially in the last period of 2011, have affected the entire financial and agricultural system. As consequence more than 17 million Yemeni people in conflict-stricken are facing the threat of acute food insecurity according to the latest edition of the Integrated Classification of Food Safety Steps (UN) published by the United Nations and its humanitarian partners.
