Literary correspondence in the Arabic language: A study on Al-Jahiz and Lisan al-Din Ibn al-Khatib

It serves as a platform for showcasing the writer's creative and rhetorical prowess, intertwining rhetorical embellishments with artistic beauty to articulate ideas in a style characterized by profound thought and eloquent expression. Thus, the writer's essence becomes imprinted within the lines of their letters, reflecting the harmony of refined articulation and the precision of meaning that captivates the reader's intellect before their heart. Epistolary literature flourished during the Abbasid and Andalusian eras, reaching its pinnacle when writers adopted an ornate style in their correspondence, bestowing their letters with a distinctive artistic appeal. In this context, the works of Al-Jahiz and Lisan al-Din Ibn al-Khatib stand out as prominent examples of this literary genre, having played a pivotal role in the heritage of Arabic prose. Their ability to employ rhetorical and artistic elements in a manner that reflects their individual skills, and the distinct character of their eras highlights their contributions.
