The comparison of Aristoteles and Ibn Rusd's understanding of ekixstence

This study, which compares Aristotle and Averroes' conceptions of existence, aims to compare their ontological approaches by examining the metaphysical perspectives of both thinkers in detail. Although the two thinkers lived in different periods, it is known that they interacted and shaped each other's thoughts. This study will particularly scrutinize Aristotle's understanding of existence and Averroes' influence on it. The basic concepts in Aristotle's understanding of existence are matter and form. He argues that every being is a combination of matter and form. The relationship between matter and form determines the essence and reality of beings. According to Aristotle, the analysis of beings should be based on the relationship between material and formal elements. Averroes was an important philosopher who popularized and interpreted Aristotle's works in the medieval Islamic world. Ibn Rushd's thought was especially shaped under the influence of reason and transmission. He emphasizes the concept of a universal intellect and argues that all human beings have the same universal intellect. This influence on Averroes' understanding of existence adds a different perspective to Aristotle's approach to the understanding of existence. One of the focal points of the study is to identify the similarities and differences in both thinkers' understanding of existence. It will examine how Aristotle's understanding of existence and Averroes' views converge and how this convergence affects the ontological perspective of both thinkers. Furthermore, the evolution of both thinkers' conceptions of existence and their interactions within the cultural context will be analyzed to understand how their ideas were shaped. Comparing Aristotle's and Averroes' conceptions of existence will not only help us understand the thought of these two thinkers, but will also allow us to evaluate philosophical heritage, knowledge transfer, and cultural interaction from a broader perspective. This study aims to provide a more comprehensive view for those who wish to understand the relationship between the two philosophers' conceptions of existence.
