DEVELOPMENT OF METHODS FOR CONVERSION OF HIDROXY GROUPS OF AROMATIC RINGS TO LEAVING GROUPS (M. Sc. Thesis) Erkan YANARATEŞ GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY August 1995 ABSTRACT A development of method of the conversion of hydroxy groups of aromatic ring to easily leaving groups was aimed in this work. Four methods were tried for this purpose. At first, various substituted phenol compounds were converted to related sulphonyl esters, bisulfites, peroxides and aryl eters derivatives. Then eter derivatives were treated by various nucleophilic reagent. Reactions were investigated by chromatographic and spectroscopic methods.
