Symbolic expressions and their emergence in the themes in Asaf Hâlet Çelebi's poems

Asaf Hâlet Çelebi, with his unique style, was one of the prominent poets of Republican Period Turkish Literature. Looking at the texts in which his life and understanding of poetry are reflected, it can be seen that he is one of the poets who wrote his poems with a püre poetry understanding in the field of modern Turkish poetry. The focus of this study is to reveal the symbolic expressions that Asaf Hâlet Çelebi used in his poems, considering his life and poetry understanding that shaped the formationof the themes in his poems. Asaf Hâlet Çelebi was a poet who had always remained popular in his time through the unique words he used, and had built an original poetry language. Asaf Hâlet's intense interest and knowledge in eastern mysticism, İslamic mysticism, Indian philosophy and Buddhism also emerge as the elements that guide the formation of his poetry world. It is seen that the symbolic expressions that we encounter intensely in his poems are closely related to the childhood and family life of Asaf Hâlet Çelebi that affect his subconscious, Istanbul that he felt a sense of belonging to with its historical atmosphere,and the mystical orientations of the poet.
