Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, air conditioning topic which has gained ground itself in every part of life for various type of elevator applications addressed. Especially shopping malls, plazas and private hospitals are commercial buildings that in which customers/people comfort is priority. In this context besides rooms and halls, air conditioning of the elevators has come into prominence. The scope of the thesis is cooling system parameters such as the subjects of cooling load, duct calculation, fan calculation, thermal comfort, air conditioning system control and system constructive design. First of all, purpose of the thesis and benefit to be provided are briefly summarized. Then similar studies related to the subject were researched and the results were summarized and the main text of the thesis was topic of projecting air conditioning system. The cooling load, which is main element of the work, has been analyzed and sched- uled in detail in framework of elevator standards and lift applications, based on the methods in the literature. The dimensions of the elevator car are determined by reference to the relevant standard. The elevator applications discussed are the cabins running in well cavity and panoramic cabins moving on outside of the building. The cooling load for the cabins moving on the panoramic exterior of glass structure is calculated separately according to layout of the elevator system on the east, south, west and north facades of the building. Calculations for the ducts and fan which are air movement equipment and device is made in a way that air conditioning system can respond to the cooling loads. Another important aspect of the air conditioning process in the elevator cab is thermal comfort and the method to be followed in this regard has been analyzed. Accordingly, assumptions have been made for the air distribution to be created in the elevator car and system control to be considered together. In the conclusion section, the findings of the study are briefly summarized and the studies and methods that may be followed are explained.
