Investigation of the temporal changes in landscape metrics in Asar Forest Planning Unit

Planning activities should be done with care because of the wide forest areas and long rotation times. It which the technology has developed from the past and has revealed new methods has changed the point of view of planning. The most important development is the concept of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and its effective use in forestry studies. The determination of the change in forest areas between two long or short periods in the forests is important for planning. The healthiest results in temporal comparisons are taken as the evaluation of the situation in two time periods, which are determined by the same methods for the same area. Determination of the changes in the ecosystems (drilling, breakage, deterioration, shrinkage, wear); taking precautions to resolve future problems and preserving the relationships between living things and living spaces. The fact that natural areas are different structures and habitat fragmentation are spatial measurable properties and processes. Landscape metrics provide a better understanding of these processes. Metrics define spatial construction at a specific time. The introduction of the temporal variation of the metrics calculated on the natural areas will provide the correct conclusions for sustainable natural areas management. However, such studies are limited in our country. In this study, the change of landscape metrics between 1968, 1987 and 2010 was tried to be explained in Asar Forest Planning Unit
