A military periodical publication; Ceride-i Askeriye

In the first stage of thesis work, it is stated that in Otoman Turkish newspaper existed as a goverment necesity ,not as a society necissity and in 1864 Ceride-i Askeriye has entered the publication world. Ceride-i Askeriye had the quality of being the first Turkish army newspaper. It was publihed in Bab-ı Seraskeri administration in 1864 and lasted until 1922. The difference of Ceride-i Askeriye from special enterprise newspapers is that it was prepared with the supervision of Erkan-ı Harbiye Umumi Nezareti and published in Mekteb-i Harbiye pressing house. It?s importence is that this newspaper is more long-lasting then special enterprize newspaper.In the second srage of thesis, the information about the content of Ceride-i Askeriye is presenteds newspaper?s publication style, states that each three months that is twenty eight issves constitute a volume. The objective behind this is that they want to protect this publication in more well organized manner. In the third stage of the thesis, it is montioned about the formal structure of Ceride-i Askeriye. First volume starts in 15 December 1880 and finishes in 20 March 1881. The newspaper is published in two days of a week ; Monday and Thursday and it costs 20 money for an issue and it?s an annual subscription fee is 100 kuruş including the post fee. Ceride-i Askeriye is a newspaper in the magazine format and in the dimension of 15x21cm. Each issue is composed of 16 pages.The aim of my taking up a determined part of Ceride-i Askeriye and presenting it is that not using so much such a detailed information which is presented in different fields in military history works up until now means that on important resource in this fields is not considered to be important. There fore, in order to fill this emptiress and contribute the next works in this manner, my objective for examining the first volume of Ceride-i Askeriye, after the change of it?s formal stucture is to help people who want to work in this field.KEY WORDSCeride-i Askeriye, Erkan-ı Harbiye, Mekteb-i Harbiye Matbaası.
