Abstract (EN)

In this research, 5 grapevines (Vitis Vinifera L) (Red Globe, Gamay, Michele Palieri, Hamburg Misketi and Çavuş) and 5 rootstocks (SO4, 5BB, 140Ru, 41B ve 110R) which located in Tekirdağ Viticulture Research Station have choosen as material. Raphide crystals at young leaves and at roots have been studied by using Transparanted Leaf Method. As a result of the examination; the average length of the bundles of raphide crystals is 37.56 µm, the average number of bundles of raphide crystals per unit area is 356.66 / mm2 in the leaves of the grapevines, while the average length of the raphide crystals is 31.17 µm, and the avarage number is 209.62 / mm2, in roots of grapevines. The average length of the bundles of raphide crystals is 50.64 .06 µm, the avarage number of bundles of rapide crystals per unit area is 482 / mm2 in the leaves of the rootstocks, while the average length of the raphide crystals is 42.23 µm and and the avarage number is 478.56 / mm2, in roots of rootstocks. It has been observed that the bundles of raphide crystals are a crystal stack formed by the transverse assemblage of the raphide crystals and the bundles are found in both the leaves and the roots of the vines. Rafite crystals generally have long and thin structure, four-cornered, bifurcated or two-forked backside, pointed and needle-shaped crystals. It has been concluded that the distribution and shape of these crystals in plant tissues can be used as a taxonomic character for the vine family (Vitaceae). When the shape, distribution and position of the calcium oxalate crystals in leaves and roots are taken into consideration in the preference of phylloxera, it is thought that it can act as phylloxera inhibitory effect and act as defense mechanism against other pests.
