INVESTIGATION OF JOINABILITY FEATURES OF WEAR RESISTANTSTEELS AND STRUCTRAL STEELS(M.Sc. Thesis)Ekrem TUNCERGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, St-37 structural steels and RAEX AR 400 wear resistant steelshave been joined by manual arc, mixed gas arc welding, MAG and TIG weldingtechniques. Rutil and basic electrodes were used as a welding wire in manualarc welding and TIG welding, SG2 wire were used in mixed gas arc welding andMAG welding. Hardness values were determined in base metal, HAZ and weldmetal. Tensile and bending tests were applied and microstructure features ofsamples were determined. Highest hardness values were obtained in 100 %carbon dioxide atmosphere. Highest tensile and yield strength were obtainedHB 212 atmosphere.Science Code : 710.3.019Key Words : Manual arc welding, TIG, MAG, Structural steel, RAEXAR 400 steelPage Number : 89Adviser : Assist.
