Abstract (EN)

The current study was designed to compare hemodialysis and non-hemodialysis CKD patients regarding their hematology and iron status serum levels subjects who were diagnosed with chronic renal failure during January 2022 and March 2022 at Azadi Teaching Hospital and Al-Jumhuri Hospital. Experimental studies were carried out by private laboratories in Kirkuk, Iraq. The volunteers in the current study were divided as follows: 40 healthy volunteers as a control group. 40 CKD patients without needing hemodialysis as a second group. 40 CKD patients whose need hemodialysis as a third group. The results showed a significant (P<0.05) reduction in hematological parameters (RBC, Hb, PCV, MCV, and MCHC) in CKD patients. Also, results showed a significant (P<0.05) increase in kidney functions (urea and creatinine) in CKD patients. Patients with and without HD had significantly lower levels of hepcidin, ferritin, and TIBC (P<0.05) than the control group. Erythropoietin levels in patients with and without HD were significantly (P<0.05) lower than in the control group. TNF and CRP levels demonstrated significantly (P <0.05) elevated in patients without HD and with HD compared to the control group.
