Abstract (EN)

The idea of nationalism, which started to spread with the French revolution, is still current and effective in today's societies and has caused many changes and transformations all over the world. It caused the formation of new states, disintegration of multinational societies. It also led to great struggles and border changes of the countries. The Turkish nation in the Ottoman Empire met and applied the idea of nationalism too late. There has been a trend of ideas that started with the disintegration period of the Ottoman Empire and had a great importance in the Turkish War of Independence. A state of national identity has been achieved with the foundation of the Republic of Turkey. The founder of this new state is Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Atatürk applied his nationalist view and leadership to a modern and non-racist nationalist state structure. Therefore, nothing has been done in practice for Turan's view, but only restructuring has been ensured for the integrity and continuity of the Turkish nation within its national borders. Atatürk defended the idea of Turanism only by means of cultural unity and avoided the understanding of struggle for Turkish unity.
