Development of electroactive electrodes to remove phenol in waste water by electrooxidation

Abstract (EN)

In this study, efficiencies of Pt, Al ve Al/Al2O3 electrodes on degredation of phenol in waste water was investigated. Experiments were carried out in a mixture of 3,5% NaCl and 50 ppm solutions in two steps. In the first step cyclic voltammograms were obtained with three electrodes technique at a scan rate of 0,1 V/s with different cycling numbers. In the second step electrolizing procedure was performed for 540 min. with a potential of 2,5 V between anodic and cathodic electrodes. From the cyclic voltammograms obtained by three electrodes technique and UV Spectrums after electrolysis it was obviously seen that the structure of phenol changed. From the results it was seemed that the degradation of phenol formed by electrooxidation when Pt electrode was. But when Al and Al/Al2O3 electrodes were used, this removing formed by electrooxidation and electrocoagulation.
