Abstract (EN)

Energy is an indispensable part of our everyday lives. Energy is one of the most important factors that provides our basic needs and the development of the state in economic and social fields. The increase in energy prices, global warming and sensitivity to climate change increase the demand for energy day by day. Energy sources which are one of the most important of fossil fuels can be consumed in time. This has revealed the needs of using the energy efficiently today. The oil sector that is one of the most important sectors of fossil fuels has enormous economic value in the world and in Turkey. It is an necessity reality that fossil fuels may run out of in the near future. Studies that can be used in the place of fossil-based fuels, to find renewable energy sources that may pollute the environment to a minimum, have continued since the oil crisis occured in the 1970s. One of these alternative energy sources is biodiesel fuel that is derived from vegetable or animal oils. It has been carried out as a result of research carried out until now. In this study, the effects of the standard diesel and biodiesel fuel blends on a single-cylinder diesel engine performance, exhaust emissions, noise and vibration of the engine were investigated experimentally at different speeds and full load. When the ratio of waste vegetable oils methyl ester (B100) in standard diesel fuel (B0) is increase; reduction on engine power and torque, increase on specific fuel consumption, decreasing on HC, CO and CO2, increasing on NOx emissions has been observed. The minimum engine vibration amplitude was obtained with B50. Usually with the B100 and all the fuel in the mixture more engine combustion end noise was obtained depending on the in-cylinder pressure increase ratio. The obtained results show that characteristics of waste vegetable oils methyl ester close with standart diesel fuel and it could be used as an alternative diesel fuel.
