Abstract (EN)
European Union funds are allocated to both member states and candidate countries and third party countries on the basis of founding agreements since the formation of the Union. The Union has developed some mechanisms for financial assistance in order to provide a balanced improvement and decrease the regional disparities through Regional Policies.EU financial assistance is of great importance for the candidate countries. By courtesy of financial assistance, these candidate countries are prepared for EU membership and entegrated easier to the Union improving their legal and institutional infrastructure.EU funds are also very important for our country. Even though there have been some breakdowns, by EU financial assistance Turkey ? EU relations proceeded a considerable stage. However, compared with other countries EU financial assistance to Turkey seems to be inadequate. Although Turkey?s relations with the EU started earlier before the last member states, the amount of financial assistance to Turkey is much below the amount of aids extended to them.
