Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the statements on children's rights in the European Commission's Türkiye reports, which have made significant contributions to the development of children's rights in Türkiye, to identify the current situation and to offer recommendations for improving children's rights and alleviating children's problems. Using the document review technique, a qualitative research approach, the study analyzed various books, newspaper articles, articles, and reports on the subject from both conceptual and statistical perspectives. In this context, 26 European Commission Türkiye reports published regularly from 1998 to 2024 were examined and important findings regarding children's rights and children's problems in Türkiye were identified. Findings and recommendations regarding children's rights and problems, particularly child poverty, child labor, child marriage, out-of-school children, street children, violence and sexual abuse against children, inadequate juvenile courts and prisons, compulsory religious education for children of different faiths, and problems with mother tongue education, are presented. In addition, in this thesis, the current situation regarding children's rights in Türkiye is presented with the help of different reports and data, and solutions are suggested for the development of children's rights and children's problems.
