Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to identify superior parental lines and hybrid combinations resistant to Orobanche by various statistical and genetic analyses on the agronomical and some technological characteristics of oilseed sunflower hybrid populations from different sources. This research was carried out during 2017 and 2018 years in experimental field of Agricultural Research and Application Center, Faculty of Agriculture, Bursa Uludağ University. The five advanced generation cytoplasmic male sterile lines and five K3 generation (third selfing generation) restorer lines tolerant or resistant to Orobanche (Orobanche cumana Wallr.) developed by Faculty of Agriculture, Bursa Uludağ University were used as genetic materials in the study. In the first year of the research, 25 F1 test hybrids were obtained by crossing according to Line x Tester design between five cytoplasmic male sterile female lines and five branched restorer male lines tolerant or resistant to Orobanche. In the second year of the study, 25 hybrids and 10 parent lines were examined in Randomized Blocks Experiment Design with 3 replications and tested according to Line x Tester analysis method for various statistical-genetic analyses with respect to the observed traits. According to the results of the research, CMS26 and RHA118 parents were determined to be resistant to Orobanche, but showed low general combining ability. It is possible that these lines, which are determined to be resistant to Orobanche, can be used as parents in the creation of new hybrid combinations. On the other hand, CMS35 x RHA131, CMS35 x RHA119, CMS72 x RHA118, CMS72 x RHA119 hybrids were found to be resistant to Orobanche and showed high specific combining ability and heterosis positively in terms of yield and quality characteristics. These hybrid combinations were identified as promising cultivar candidates. However, it was found that the CMS71 x RHA131, CMS71 x RHA118, CMS30 x RHA118, CMS30 x RHA119, CMS26 x RHA131, CMS26 x RHA118 hybrids were resistant to Orobanche but did not exhibit high specific combining ability and heterosis in terms of yield and quality characteristics. These hybrid populations will be utilized throughout the generations of selection to develop Orobanche - resistant, high yield and quality parents. Key words: Sunflower, Orobanche, combining ability, heterosis, heterobeltiosis, yield, quality. 2019, ix + 93 pages
