Abstract (EN)

Statistically, significant precipitation and temperature changes are foreseen for many regions in the world due to climate change. The most influenced component of hydrological processes by the changes in precipitation and temperature is runoff. Therefore, it is inevitable that the water potentials of basins will be significantly affected by climate change.The objective of the prepared work is to develop a methodology and application to determine the sensitivity and vulnerability of the dam reservoirs in Turkey, under the stress and effects of climate change. The application of the methodology is carried on the freshwater supply reservoirs Tahtalı and Gordes of Izmir that loaced coastal Aegean where the severe effects of the climate change are foreseen.The climate change scenarios and the results of the climate model HadCM3 cited in the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was evaluated as future climate conditions cover the years 2010-2099 and the new runoff series representing the inflows by the period of 2010-2099 to the Tahtali and Gordes reservoirs were evaluated by reservoir operation studies, parametric hydrological model and subsequently performances of the reservoirs were tested.
