The effect of jigsaw method on the 3th class student's empathetic tendency and student's attitude towards the life of science lesson

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of jigsaw method on student's empathetic tendency and children's attitude towards the life of science lesson. In this research, mixed model combining (variation) pattern was used and the qualitative approach was dominant. The study group of the study, 20 students in controlling group and 20 students in experimental group; namely, 40 students attending 3rd grade in Kovancılar Primary School in Kovancılar District of Elazığ Province in 2018-2019 academic year. In the study, single group patterned experimental method was used in the analysis of quantitative data. In this study, data were collected by on children, KA-SI emphathetic tendency scale qualitative methods by Kaya and Siyez (2010) and 3-point likert –type scale of the observation form by Ozturk and Cosgun (2015). Data related to the quantitive dimension were collected through the semi-structured observation form and observation form were developed by the researcher. In the analysis of quantitative data, Shapiro-Wilk test, mean (x), standard deviation (ss), dependent groups t-test, frequency, percentage and variance analysis were used. Parametric test was used for the data of normal distrubituion, and non-parametric test was used for not normal distrubition and observation and interview forms, content analysis, which is one of the qualitative analysis methods, was found suitable for this study. There wasnot a significant increase in the post-test direction in terms of empathy skill levels of experimental groups while decreasing was observed between pre-codes and post-codes in control group.Observation form consist of cooperation,communication-empathy, and attitudes towards the lesson.Each theme was examined by subclassifying and acquired information supports the conclusion which was acquired from quantitive data.This study also shows that there is significant increase the attitudes towards lesson of the both group.Interwieving form was examined; liked activity and unliked activity. Activites which is liked includes three main thema; cooperation, teaching process, and investigating. In addition, unliked activities have investigated in terms of student based, examining based , and no unliked features based.When attitudes towards the lesson is examined by qualitative,quantitive data has been supported by qualitative data is obtained.
