Abstract (EN)

Idioms are the product of both oral and written expression and enrich values by providing information about the history, world of thought and culture of a society. Idioms that enrich the Turkish language have been dealt with by many authors. When we look at the studies on idioms, it is possible to see how the phrases made with more than one word are formed by condensing the meaning in Ömer Asım Aksoy's work "Idioms Dictionary" and what kind of meaning the words mean when they come together. In the study, idioms were examined in terms of both their meaning and structure. The idioms to be discussed in terms of structure were examined on Aziz Nesin's works titled "Toros Canavarı ve İt Kuyruğu ".When the author's works were examined, very different types of idioms were encountered. The elements of which one has a word type and which one has a sentence type were investigated. Various sources were used by investigating the meaning of word-type idioms and sentence-type idioms. The idioms were examined in two parts and listed as subheadings in terms of structure features, and each of the idioms was grouped and examined among itself. Thus, the purpose of the study was determined and the definition and evaluation of the idioms in these two works were made.
