Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTAzo disperse dyes have been widely used in textile industry. Due to their high capacityof absorption into fabric surface and high quality of colour tone, azo dyes, especiallyheteroaromatic azo disperse, dyes have been preferably used. Dye molecules which includeazo chromophore group in their molecular structure were dissolved in common solvents and, then dye solution was applied to the fabric surface to suck. It was found that these dyes showedhigh resistance to photo and thermal corrosion effects.Because of the rapid growth of photochemical technologies in recent years, productionof azo dyes have been directed to the synthetic pathway of non-linear optical materials which isuseful in electrooptical applications. For this reason, synthesis of new azo derivativecompounds have been designed. Azo chromophore containing dyes were attached to differentaromatic and heteroaromatic groups, such as thiophene group which shows good conductingcapacity, by azomethin bonds. In this thesis, some common azo disperse dyes have been synthesized, and somearomatic and heteroaromatic compounds have been attached to the azo chromophorecontaining dye. As a result, new azo derivative compounds having different polarity have been1synthesized. These new compounds have been characterized by UV-VIS, infrared, H NMR and13C NMR spectroscopic measurements.Key words: Azo Dyes, Schiff Base, Coupling Reaction, Reduction of Nitro Groups, Thiophene
