Abstract (EN)

The neoliberal perspective has led to increased interaction among countries and the globalization of trade on a global scale. While this globalized world trade presents new opportunities for countries, it also brings forth a set of new threats. The Dependency Theory emerged in response to the inadequacies of development theory in identifying the threats faced by underdeveloped countries, becoming a prominent and enduring topic in the literature. According to the Dependency Theory, the underdevelopment of less developed countries is attributed to developed nations. With the onset of globalization, a power race has unfolded among states, giving rise to novel forms of colonial activities. This has resulted in central countries pursuing self-interested activities in peripheral nations. The Dependency Theory finds its foundation in the global power struggle, where developed countries come to a central position by exerting control over the relatively less developed or underdeveloped countries in their vicinity. This study delves into global inequality, a consequence of globalization and economic interaction, from the perspective of the Dependency Theory, known to have originated in Latin America. Key Words: Dependency Theory, Underdeveloped Countries, World Systems
