Abstract (EN)

Residual elements, such as copper and tin, which can not be removed (unrefined) from the raw materials used in steel production, cause problems in the provision of steel properties as segregate during solidification in steel casting. Today, steel production by using steel scrap is inevitable. The copper ratio deposited in the steel has increased due to the increase in the ratio of the old scrap used as industrial scrap. Increasing rate of copper is causing problems in the required steel properties due to the 'copper effect'. In this proposed study, the effect of copper on the steel, which is a unremoveable (unrefinable) residual element in steel production, the relationship between the elements of the steel composition and the process parameters will be examined. Production processes such as solidification, rolling, heat treatment of liquid steel will be investigated under the "copper effect" by adding selected alloying elements to the low carbon steel containing copper at a certain level. Current characterization and testing techniques will be used in the examinations. At the end of the study, the conditions that decrease and increase the "copper effect", and the relation between composition and process parameters; and principles of the copper effect in steel will be determined within the scope of the work. This study will provide a significant contribution to the knowledge and especially the steel industry of our country which is produced steel by using scrap around 75%.
