An efficiency analysis on agricultural farms in Balikesir and Canakkale provinces

South Marmara Region (TR22) is a one of the leading region of Turkey's agriculture and especially its food production. Balıkesir and Canakkale are major provinces with their agricultural potential as well as diversity of agricultural products. The aim of this study is determine to efficiency levels of the farmers on TR22 region where is consisted by Balıkesir and Canakkale. The study was planned as an explanatory study. The main material of this study is face to face surveys datafrom existing farms on this region. The existing agricultural structure of Balıkesir and Canakkale have been grouped in to the similar districts by using Multi Dimensional Scaling and Clustering method. Sample calculated with proportional approach and simple random sampling method was used in this study. Also Physical input and output coefficients of agricultural products were analysed by using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) which is one of the non-parametric measuring method and then efficiency levels were measured. Thus, they have been revealed to effective and ineffective production of farms.
