Abstract (EN)
In this study, mufflers used in bathroom faucets are discussed. Attempts have been made to improve the current muffler designs to reach the geometry that gives the best acoustic values. The geometry of the transition sections in the inlet and outlet sections of the mufflers has been improved and the turbulence which has an effect on the acoustic values has been reduced, thus reducing the acoustic values. Besides, with a new approach, the length of the part where the water travels in the silencer has been increased and direct passage to the body has been provided. Alternative designs have been obtained by using Siemens NX program and computational fluid dynamics analysis of these designs have been made by using ANSYS Fluent program using two dimensional Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and acoustic methods. This study is supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) within the scope of 1501-Industry Research Technology Development and Innovation Projects Support Program.
