Abstract (EN)

This study consists of the linguistic examination of folk songs of Barak. As aconsequence of the migrations before and after the Battle of Manzikert, Turkmens settled down in the geography of Anatolia and Syria. Turkmens, who were settled down in the Raqqa and Julab region from Central Anatolia, settled down around Gaziantep, where they live today. Today, they live especially in the Nizip, Oğuzeli and Karkamış districts of Gaziantep, which follow the line of the Syrian border. The region aforementioned is called Barak plain. Folk songs that tell the struggle of the Baraks who try to acquire a homeland have been sung in village rooms for centuries and have survived to the present day owing to oral literatüre. The theme of those folk songs are sometimes a requiem telling about miseries, sometimes a saga telling about valors and sometimes an outcry telling about longings. The folk songs which were sung by Barak bards were examined in this study in terms of both content and language. Besides that, these folk songs, which puts the subject of the study together, were dealt with their story and examined in terms of dialect features and grammar. Baraks and Barak folk songs have been handled through many studies for many times. However, this study was prepared due to the fat that the linguistic examination of those folk songs is seen as a deficiency. Key words: Language, Grammar, Barak Turkmens, Folk Songs Of Barak
