Abstract (EN)

Nutrition is one of the enviromental factors that affects health. Nutrition is important in every age, but especially equally and balanced nutrition is important for children. In community, equally and balanced nutrition habits only can formed by education. In thıs study, the purpose is to increase the nutrition knowledge of children by nutrition education and to convert these knowledge to future nutrition habits. Başkent University Kolej Ayşe Abla Primary school third grade students were visited once a week for nutrition education lessons for four weeks. 76 students who are in third grade were divided into two groups. The classical education method is used in first group (33 students); in second group (43 students) mixed education method is used. Students height, weight measurements were done and body mass index were calculated. İn order to detect the nutrition habits of students, questionnaires which include 3 days food record of children were sent to parents. Students complete the same test before and after the education. At the end of the study; the increase of nutrition knowledge of second group (mixed education method group) is significantly higher than the first group (classical education group) (p ? 0.05). In the coverage of school health studies, the more emphasis on nutrition education and the variation of the methods used in educations are important for students to learn equally and balanced nutrition.
