Examing the stress coping strategics of basketball coaches

Abstract (EN)

This descriptive research, which was carried out to determine basketball coaches' styles of coping with stress and to examine the factors affecting it, was carried out with 223 licensed trainers who are members of the Turkish Basketball Coaches Association (TÜBAD). Data were collected online using the Personal Information Form and the Styles of Coping with Stress Scale (SBTÖ) via a survey site called Google Forms. Mann-Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis H tests were used in the analysis of the data. It was determined that the majority of the participants were male, between the ages of 26-35, single, infrastructure trainer and A-grade trainer. It was found that the participants' overall effective coping methods sub-dimension scores were higher. It was found that there were statistically significant differences between the team level of the participants, the level of coaching, gender and age factors and some sub-dimension scores of SBTÖ (p<0.005). As a result, it can be stated that the participants have a high level of effective handling and their handling style is influenced by factors such as team level, coaching level, age and gender.
