Abstract (EN)
This study's main aim is to pinpoint the variables influencing tuberculosis preventive and control initiatives now in effect in Kampala, Uganda. The theoretical foundation for this cross-sectional study design was Wilber's integral theory. Data was put together using a structured questionnaire filled out by health workers at five Tuberculosis dispensaries in Kampala City Council Authority hospitals around Kampala district. A total of 413 respondents—151 women and 262 men—were questioned. Each respondent provided informed consent before the data was collected. Data analysis was done using SPSS. In order to understand how dependent and independent variables are related, the chi-square association test was used at a significance level of 0.05. 74.33% of the respondents had a treatment supporter while taking their TB medicine, yet 63.44% never disclosed their TB illness to anyone with whom they shared a home. Whereas 59.6% of the patients were HIV positive, 53.8% had low literacy about tuberculosis therapy. As 64.3% of people were taking other medications besides TB medicines, 64.2% were more likely to cease their Tuberculosis treatment due to feeling better in less than two months. These and other factors were pinpointed to be affecting the available Tuberculosis control and prevention programs in Kampala. In conclusion, the functioning of the existing TB prevention and control programs in the Kampala district of Uganda was figured to be aided by patients having a treatment supporter (DOT), TB dispensaries being close by or less than $3 in transportation costs away, the supply of TB drugs at the TB dispensaries, staff attitudes, convenient working hours, and short waiting times at the TB facilities.
