Ornamental plant cultivation in Bayındır (İzmir)

As a result of industrialization and rapid urbanization, human desire for nature has increased. The desire to resolve this longing has led to ornamental plants becoming increasingly prevalent and becoming a commercial sub-sector. In Bayındır province; indoor, outdoor, seasonal, shrub and tree group have been taken to the fore in recent years in terms of production of ornamental plants and Bayındır has become one of Turkey's leading production centers. In this study, firstly, horticulture, definition and classification of ornamental plants, production methods of ornamental plants, the place of flower in our history and importance of Yalova, general characteristics of Bayındır district and general information about floriculture in Bayındır are given. The current status of ornamental plants in Bayındır, İzmir and the species that stand out in terms of aquaculture are discussed according to the information obtained from the cooperative. Scientific classification of these species and their general characteristics; scientific articles, magazines, books and internet sites have been researched. Then, according to official data, the contribution of ornamental plant cultivation to the economy of the region and the country's economy was tried to be put forward. Other countries and other provinces in our country are compared with Bayındır and the differences and their causes are determined. Legislation and ornamental plant nurseries and ornamental plants in Turkey about the applied information is given about standards. Then, ornamental plants breeding studies in our country are mentioned. The problems of the sector and the problems experienced by the producers were discussed with the manufacturers, by obtaining information from cooperatives and by scanning related articles, newspapers and magazines. In line with the mentioned information, problems and solutions in the ornamental plant sector in the district were presented.
