Mannich is important in the synthesis of some new compounds. Also can be used directly or as intermediates in some Mannich. Mannich reaction of formaldehyde with an active hydrogen-bearing compound and an amine in the presence of either 1o or 2o occurs.Mannich bases, the most important applications in pharmaceutical chemistry (antineoplastic drugs, analgesics, antibiotics), polymer chemistry, surface active agents.
