vTHE SYNTHESIS OF NEW HETARYLAZO DYES FROM SOME INDOLDERIVATIVES AND INVESTIGATION OF THEIR PROPERTIESZeynel SEFEROĞLUGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYNovember 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, the hetarylazo dyes were prepared by coupling someindole derivatives with various heterocyclic amines diazotized innitrozyl sulphuric acid. The compounds have been characterized byspectrophotometric methods and mass spectroscopy. Visibleabsorption spectra of the dyes were examined in various solvents andthe absorption maxima of dyes were observed to shift to more longwavelength in DMSO, DMF and acetic acid. In addition, the effects ofsubstituent and acid-base on the absorption spectra of the dyes werealso examined.Science Code : 201.1.112Key Words : Azo dyestuffs, Indole derivatives, Azo-HydrazoneTautomerism, Solvent effectPage Number : 248Adviser : Prof. Dr. Nermin ERTAN
