Technical characteristics of some Turkish natural stones with calcium carbonate root and their usage fields on structure and restoration

In terms of usage area, any failure or any negativepractice can cause some deformation in physico-chemical structure ofthese materials. Environmental interactions (mechanic deformations,corrosion, heat effects, fire, water and humidity effects, sun andatmosphere effects, hot-cold conditions) have been analysed. As a resultof these effects some chemical alternations occur and generally by timedeformations and wearing out emerge on internal structure of the material.Beside this physical and mechanical characteristics of natural stones weredetermined according to DIN standard of DIN EN 1936, DIN EN 13755,DIN EN 1926, DIN EN 12372, DIN 52108, DIN 52102, DIN 18130.The aim of this study is to determine physical, mechanical andenvironmental interactions of the natural stones used in restoration and todefine their eligibility to be used as structure and covering material inrestoration of historical buildings.
