Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, effects of some monoterpens and some essential oils obtained from plants on cell proliferation and apoptosis were investigated with mammalian cell cultures. Effects of thymol and essential oils of Salvia fructicosa, Origanum onites and Laurus nobilis on cell proliferation was investigated with BrdU ((5-bromo-2?- deoxy-uridine) assay on A549 and V79 379A cell lines. Essential oils of Salvia fructicosa, Origanum onites and Laurus nobilis and thymol were caused a decrease of cell proliferation dose and time dependent. Effects of some monoterpens and essential oils on apoptosis were investigated with DAPI staining at fluorescence microscopy. Test substances were showed apoptotic effects on A549 cells. Keywords: Essential oil, monoterpen, BrdU, Apoptosis, DAPI
