Abstract (EN)

Systemic fungal infections have emerged as important causes of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. The incidence of systemic fungal infections has increased dramatically due mainly to Candida species over the last two decades. The greatly increased incidence of life-threatening fungal infections has resulted in a corresponding increase in demand for new agents to treat these infections. It is obvious from the literature that triazoles are the most widely used and studied class of antifungal agents. The widespread use of these compounds has led to the development of resistance in recent years. The aim of this study is to synthesize new triazole derivatives and investigate their antifungal activities.4-Amino-5-(2-cyclohexyl/(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl)-3-[N-(benzothiazole-2-yl) acetamido]thio-4H-1,2,4-triazole derivatives were prepared by the reaction of 2-chloro-N-(benzothiazole-2-yl)acetamide derivatives with 4-amino-5-(2-cyclohexyl/(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-thiol.The structures of these compounds were elucidated by infrared (IR), 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance (13C-NMR), mass spectra and elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were screened for their antifungal activities against various Candida species.
