Abstract (EN)
Tensile strength of cement-based materials such as concrete is low. Natural or synthetic fibers are added to the concrete to eliminate this negative effect. By adding the fibers to the concrete, the uncontrolled progression of the cracks in the cement matrix is generally prevented. In this thesis, it is aimed to investigate the effects of basalt fiber use on the mechanical properties of concrete and the corrosion performance of the reinforcement in the concrete. In this study, concrete samples were produced by making control mixture and 1, 2, 3 % basalt fiber blended mixture. In addition, reinforced concrete samples were produced to determine the strength properties of concrete. Concrete samples to be subjected to mechanical, physical and durability experiments were cured in standard curing environment (water curing).Unit weight and ultrasonic pulse velocity experiment from physical experiments, surface hardness, splitting-tensile, compression, flexural strength experiment from mechanical experiments and electrical resistance and rapid electrical resistance and rapid chloride permeability experiments were performed on concrete samples. Accelerated corrosion and half cell potential experiement were performed on reinforced concrete samples. In the study, the changes occurring under the influence of corrosion of the control and basalt fiber reinforced concrete series produced and the changes in their mechanical and physical properties were examined. The use of basalt fibers in the concrete mix has been shown to slightly improve corrosion resistance. In addition, with the use of basalt fibers in the concrete mixture, a significant increase in bending and tensile strengths was observed compared to reference concrete.
