The investigation of physical education teachers' perceptions of school culture and professional performance competence levels

The main purpose of the research is to examine the perceptions of school culture and professional performance competence levels of physical education teachers. Another purpose is to evaluate the difference between some demographic characteristics of physical education teachers, perceptions of school culture and professional performance Deciency. While Physical Education and Sports Teachers make up the universe of the study, a total of (n=329) physical education and sports teachers working in the province of Istanbul, determined by the easy sampling method, make up the sample. In this study, an online questionnaire was used. The Google Forms platform has been used to collect data. During the data collection process, information about the study and questionnaires were transmitted to the participants via social networks. Volunteers participating in the studies were asked to answer the personal information form, School Culture and Physical Education Teachers' Proficiency Scale scales. The obtained data were transferred to the SPSS 25 package program and Independent Samples T-Test (t test for independent samples), One way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) and Pearson correlation analysis were used as statistical analysis. LSD analysis was preferred as the post-hoc analysis. The level of significance in the research, .05 is accepted. As a result, it has been determined that gender variable is the determining variable in the dimensions of school culture, support culture and bureaucratic culture, professional competence level, personal and professional values- professional development, learning and teaching process, school - family and community relations, there are differences according to gender variable. It is understood that as the age level increases, the level of support culture and bureaucratic culture increases, the level of professional competence; student recognition and school - family and community relations, the age variable assumes a decisive role. It has been determined that as the professional experience of teachers increases, the levels of bureaucratic culture and task culture decrease. It has been found that there is a significant difference between the professional competence level of physical education teachers; personal and professional values-professional development, learning and teaching process, monitoring and evaluating learning, development, and school-family and community relations, as well as the professional experience variable. According to the school variable, it was determined that there are differences in the dimensions of bureaucratic culture, personal and professional values- professional development, program and content knowledge. It was determined that the support cultures of teachers who graduated from the recreation department were better, there were differences in the dimensions of personal and professional values- professional development and the learning and teaching process according to the graduated department variable.
