Comparison of the relationship between professional burnout levels and anger control according to the perceptions of physical education teachers and Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate trainers Afyonkahisar city example

In this study, it was tried to determine the occupational burnout levels and trait anger and anger expression styles of physical education teachers and trainers, to examine the relationship between these variables, and to explain and compare whether the occupational burnout levels of the participants predicted trait anger and anger expression styles. The universe of this research consists of physical education teachers working in public and private schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Afyonkarahisar province and trainers working in the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports. The study sample consisted of 259 (70.8%) men and 107 (29.2%) women, a total of 366 teachers and trainers. 314 (85,8%) of the participants are teachers, and 52 (14,2%) are trainers. The relational screening model and causal comparison method were used in the research. Personal information form, Burnout Scale (Short Form), and Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale were administered to the participants. The data obtained from the scales were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 package program. Personal information about the candidates, inventory and scale averages, frequency (f) and percentage (%) values were determined. In the research, descriptive statistics were used to determine the professional burnout levels and trait anger and anger expression styles of teachers and trainers. Since it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution, parametric tests were applied to the research findings. Within the scope of the research model, which was designed as a statistical procedure, Independent Sample t-Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Pearson Correlation Coefficient Analysis were performed to test the determined hypotheses. The significance level was accepted as α = 0.05. As a result of the analyzes, it was seen that physical education teachers and trainers had low levels of trait anger, anger-in and anger-out, and professional burnout, while their anger control levels were above the medium level. According to the average scores of physical education teachers and trainers from the scales, it was determined that the teachers' trait anger, anger-in, anger-out, and burnout levels were higher than that of the trainers and that the average scores of the trainers' anger control were higher than those of the physical education teacherswhile their professional burnout levels were a significant predictor of their trait anger and anger expression styles.
