Investigation of physical education teachers' leadership orientations and communication skills in terms of some variables

Objective: This study aims to examine the leadership orientations and communication skills of physical education teachers in terms of some variables. In addition, it is aimed to present suggestions for educational policies and teacher training programs in the light of the findings. Material and Methods: This study was designed on a cross-sectional model and quantitative research methods were used in this study. The universe of the study consisted of physical education teachers in Turkey, while the sample consisted of teachers selected by random method. "Communication Skills Scale" and "Self-Leadership Scale" were used as data collection tools. Data were collected online via Google Forms and subjected to statistical analysis with SPSS software. The study was conducted with the approval of the ethics committee. Results: In the findings of this study, a positive and significant relationship was determined between the leadership orientations and communication skills of physical education teachers. In addition, it was determined that the levels of leadership orientations and communication skills differed according to variables such as gender, age, professional experience and the type of school they work at. Conclusion: As a result of the analyses performed; emphasizes the contribution of physical education teachers' leadership orientations and communication skills to the quality of education. The findings show that leadership and communication skills should be given priority in teachers' professional development programs. Educational policies should be designed to support these skills of teachers.
