Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to test the Turkish validity and reliability of the Eating Habits and Nutritional Beliefs Scale (KomPAN®) in healthy adults. The research data were obtained by filling out the questionnaire with Nuh Naci Yazgan University students and participants between December 2023 and January 2024. Expert opinion was consulted for the content validity of the scale. The translation-back translation method was applied for the language validity of the Turkish form of the scale. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was found to be 0.88. Confirmatory factor analyses were applied to determine the construct validity of the Turkish scale form and 4 sub-dimensions (Eating Habits, Food Frequency Consumption, Nutritional Beliefs and Lifestyle) were obtained. Items 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 28 and 31 with factor loadings less than 0.30 were removed from the model. Test-retest method was used to evaluate the reliability of the Turkish form of the scale. The scale was administered to 100 participants at 2-week intervals. 550 adult individuals participated in the study. The mean age of the participants was 20.96 ± 3.215 years, 87% were female and 13% were male. It was observed that there was a positive and strongly significant relationship between Pre-Test Food Frequency Consumption and Post-Test Food Frequency Consumption (r=.702; p=.000). There is a positive and strongly significant relationship between Pre-Test Nutrition Beliefs and Post-Test Nutrition Beliefs (r=,670; p=,000). When we evaluated the other sub-dimensions of KomPAN® according to the gender variable, no statistically significant difference was found. In conclusion, the Eating Habits and Nutritional Beliefs Scale (KomPAN®) is a valid and reliable scale that can be used to assess the nutritional status of healthy Turkish adult individuals.
